Job description

I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational

  • Maintain and manage 24-hour Staff Scheduling for the Unit/Cottage. Ensuring all shifts have the required number of staff per shift. 24 hours, 365 days. Including weekends and holidays based on Full Time Employee budget per Unit/Cottage.
  • Adjusting the schedule to provide coverage as needed.
  • Maintain and update Shift Assignments: Groups and Chores assignments.
  • Daily oversight and monitoring of Unit communication logbook; Daily Logs and Data collection.
  • Plans and ensure Daily Routine and Accountability are adhered to including structured time on youth goals/objectives, including recreation, socialization, communication, and activities of daily living.
  • Maintains and inspects unit equipment and youth property with accurate property log / inventory.
  • Oversight and management of seasonal Clothing inventory, household supplies and equipment and keep inventory of the same. Report and follow-up on repairs and purchases of any other special needs.
  • Plans for New Admissions to unit, ensure unit staff are informed and has access to NA history/packet.
  • Plans for Discharges from units, ensures youth personal belongings and property is inventoried a packed.
  • Update bi-weekly payroll/ KRONOS, monthly Milk Reimbursement data.
  • Monitor Learning Management System for registration and compliance of required training.
  • Monitor and reconcile Purchase Card/Petty Cash and Stipend receipts.
  • Conducts monthly Facility/Environment Checklist: monitors for unsafe conditions and takes steps to correct conditions as required; including daily activities and interactions of staff with youth, daily care and cleanliness of the unit.
  • Conducts 3 random surveillance video reviews per month, documents findings and including corrective action as needed.

Supervision

  • Supervises the daily activities of staff including attentiveness and interactions with youth.
  • Demonstrates an active presence on the unit/cottage floor.
  • Provides monthly and on-going supervision for Child Care Worker staff on both an individual and group basis. This includes orientation to the unit and campus, training shadowing schedule for new employees and education of position.
  • Compose and Implement Unit goals and expectations for Child Care staff.
  • Completes Performance Evaluations at required intervals.
  • Completes Disciplinary action and performance improvement plans as opportunities for improvement for childcare staff as needed and in real time.
  • Incident management: Reviews videos, review of incident/situation reports to ensure all components of documentation are completed accordingly and debriefing with staff within 5 days of incident. Submit all required documentation to AOD, RD, PD and QI.

Administrative/Inter-Disciplinary Teamwork

  • Deliver advocacy for youth residing in the unit in terms of needed services, special needs or programming that will aid youth to achieve increased independence.
  • Enforce staff receives orientation and training regarding the youth's developmental needs, medical needs, communication style, feeding protocols and food preparation according to individual feeding protocols and teaching activities of daily living based on individuals need.
  • Formulate a constructive and therapeutic routine of activities based on the needs and goals of each individual and group activity that will stimulate and promote goal achievement.
  • Oversight to ensure the above routine is followed and documented progress is recorded in logs.
  • Provide Direct Care services to the youth as needed.
  • Report all pertinent information, concerns, issues to the Treatment Team and request an emergency team meeting as needed.
  • Prepare a written report on progress on each youth for Monthly Treatment Team meetings.
  • Attend monthly Team Meeting prepared to report on youth's progress for the month.
  • Generate written childcare report on a Semi-Annual basis for each youth for Service Plan Review/ FTC meeting.
  • Attend Service Plan Review/ FTC meetings every 6 months per child.
  • Attend Monthly Medication Review Meeting.
  • Schedule and facilitate monthly Unit Staff Meetings with agenda, attendance and minutes. Ensure that staff from all 3 shifts attend meetings.

Serve as the Back-up Administrator on Duty as needed. The AOD oversees the entire campus and must work with the Unit Supervisors and Senior Workers in securing campus coverage and campus integrity Duties include:

  • Conduct rounds to each unit every two hours
  • Assess campus coverage
  • Analyze and arrange for emergencies
  • Collaborate and assist with any/all Behavioral/Medical incidents
  • Notification to Hot Line staff of any incidents involving DSS children and VPCR- JC reports
  • Collecting and reviewing Incident Reports of any/all incidents
  • Facilitate debriefing reports
  • Notification to parents of RBM techniques
  • Notifying parents of Restraints in the absence of other supervisory and administrative personnel
  • Document and record in real time events of campus in the AOD Log.
  • Assign vehicles for recreation, medical, visit appointments.

II. QUALIFICATIONS

Experience required: 3 years' Direct Care experience working with ID/DD population.

Some supervisory experience preferred/

Child Welfare experience

Education: High School Diploma, AA preferred,

Special Skills: Basic Computer Skills – word, excel, outlook

Organizational Skills

Communication Skills

III. RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS

Must work as part of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS

40-hour work week.

Includes weekends and holidays.

Holidays that fall on scheduled day of work are expected to be worked.

Must be on-call to respond to emergencies after hours
