Senior Network Engineer

Remote Position (Atlanta, Georgia, or Dallas, Texas) with occasional office visits

Duration: 6 Months

We are looking for a skilled Senior Network Engineer with expertise in Equinix Network Edge, Palo Alto firewalls, VPN technologies, and cloud networking. The ideal candidate will lead the smooth migration of customer connections into Equinix data centers, ensuring minimal operational disruption. This role involves close collaboration with clients' engineering teams, deployment of virtual Palo Alto appliances, optimization of routing configurations, and ongoing support throughout the migration.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with clients' engineering teams to understand connectivity requirements and develop migration plans for moving connections into Equinix data centers.
Deploy and configure Palo Alto virtual appliances for secure VPN connections, ensuring compatibility with Equinix Network Edge or cloud exchange fabric.
Coordinate with Equinix technical teams to provision network resources and ensure connectivity for customer deployments following best practices.
Lead the migration of customer connections in batches, managing IP address allocations, tunnel configurations, and routing adjustments to minimize downtime.
Work with clients' engineering teams to set up encryption domains, establish VPN tunnels, and conduct testing for connectivity and performance validation.
Optimize routing configurations to enhance traffic flow efficiency and delivery of applications and services.
Troubleshoot VPN connectivity, routing, or performance issues during and post-migration, collaborating closely with clients and internal stakeholders for resolutions.
Document all configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge transfer and future migrations.
Stay updated on industry trends and technologies in cloud networking, security, and routing to support decision-making and service enhancements.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years in network engineering, specializing in VPN technologies, Palo Alto firewalls, and cloud networking.
Hands-on experience with Equinix Network Edge or cloud exchange fabric, including provisioning and troubleshooting.
Proficient in routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP, with expertise in optimizing routing configurations.
Skilled in troubleshooting network connectivity using tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, and packet analyzers.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with clients' teams and internal stakeholders.
Relevant certifications like Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or equivalent, are advantageous.
