Anthology Events, a premier event management company, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced banquet houseman to join our dynamic team. As a banquet houseman, you will play a vital role in ensuring the flawless execution of events by handling various key components of event set-up. This position demands physical agility, including the ability to lift, push, or assemble heavy equipment, tables, chairs, or furniture, as well as frequent bending, standing, and walking, with the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

In addition to the physical requirements, have strong communication skills, enabling you to follow instructions accurately, both verbally and in writing. The ability to multitask, reason, and solve problems while paying attention to detail is crucial for success in this role. As events can often be fast-paced and high-stress, maintaining composure and communicating effectively are essential attributes. Additional duties include but are not limited to:

• Arrive to work on time and in proper uniform.
• Inspect event rooms prior to guest arrival to ensure that they are clean and free of any hazards.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of any banquet rooms, hallways, storage, BOH and service areas. Including, but not limited to, emptying trash bins.
• You must routinely inventory and care for banquet supplies such as linens, chairs, tables, etc.
• You are required to set up the banquet room per the specification of a banquet events order, and then reset the room to its original state after the event has concluded.
• Reset room prior to the next event.
• During the event, duties include assisting servers, transporting tables and equipment, reporting maintenance issues to management, and providing requested information to banquet patrons.
• Guiding guests through the property.
• Helping assemble podiums and other structures; relaying data to outside departments; and assisting audio-visual personnel in setting up equipment like speakers and monitors.
• In some cases, you may also be tasked with helping transport food, beverages, decorations and equipment to other areas of the building.
• Keep a clear and detailed inventory of all event linen.
• Articulate set-up and break down needs during pre-shift meetings.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience as a houseman in a hotel or banquet setting
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
• Willingness to work long hours when necessary
