    Manufacturing Engineering Intern - Indianapolis (onsite - day shift)

    Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for its Summer 2024 Intern Program.

    The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will report to Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility Monday-Friday.

    Engineering Summer Interns at Peerless Pump are given opportunities to participate in department projects with the goal to help expand their technical education and aid in completion of projects. Interns will work with staff engineers to complete assignments. Projects may involve interfacing with other departments such as machine shop, purchasing, vendors, quality, order processing and sales. At the end of the term, Interns will prepare a project status report to present to senior management within the company to explain impact of their project and receive direct feedback on performance.

    Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

    What is the job about?

    Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    • Knowledge and interest in application of mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other technologies as they are/can be applied to the business' manufacturing operations.
    • Excellent communication skills both internally and external to the department.
    • Ability to work independently without daily supervision.
    • Knowledge and interest in machining (e.g. turning, milling, boring, etc...) assembly, and testing processes
    • An understanding of process capability analysis and measurement system analysis.
    • Knowledge and interest in Project management is a plus.
    • Proficient using electronic tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe)
    • SAP experience is a plus.

    Posting, Reporting, and Work Relations

    This position will work closely with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager and other business managers, support shop floor personnel, and other operations support teams.

    Required Minimum Qualifications

    • Working towards a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university *incoming 3rd or 4th year preferred
    • Must be detailed oriented and possess excellent follow up skills
    • Person must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

    • Good oral and written communication
    • Ability to work in small teams to achieve desired results
    • Desire for continuous improvement to improve processes.

    Work Conditions

    • Will work closely with shop floor personnel in a manufacturing environment.
    • May be asked to perform physical work such as lifting and assembling product or machine tooling
