- Our surgeries include, but are not limited to, Open Heart, Neuro, Orthopedic, Generals, Da Vinci, Cardiovascular, Cysto, Colorectal, Urology, OB, Specialty Eye Cases, ENT, Neuro and Spine Surgery.
- Occasional weeknight on-call and every third weekend call rotation with 30-minute response time.
- Staffed for 315 beds hospital wide with the OR and same-day surgery departments having a combined total of 24 rooms.
- We serve a diverse group of patients, mainly adults, averaging 20,000 cases per year.
- Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
- Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
- Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
- Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
- Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
- Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
- Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
- Anticipating the surgeon's needs.
- Following appropriate action in emergency situations.
- Complete one of the following by hire date:
- Military Surgical Assistant; OR
- LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR
- Surgical Technologist training
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
- Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
- AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
- 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience
- Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.
- Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
- Ability to work well under a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to prioritize and multi-task in a complex work environment.

Overview
Fairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at our M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital location in Edina, MN.
As a Surgical Technologist, you'll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.
You'll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room.
Schedule:
This position will be working 0.9 FTE (72 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the day/evening/night shift. This position will also work rotating weekends.
