    Sr. Systems Administrator - Alexandria, United States - Syneren Technologies Corporation

    Description
    The Sr. Systems Administrator role will implement and manage all enterprise systems and services. The ideal candidate will be both strategic and tactical.

    The position will have you coordinate with all IT operations functions and processes required to support business operations and to keep all infrastructure, including servers, network, telephony, and data, available 24x7.

    In addition, it requires working closely with IT leadership to identify and ensure systems are maintained, patched, and secure.
    The Sr.

    Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, performance, efficiency, and operation of all compute systems, as well as storage and back up technologies, disaster recovery strategies, and technologies that support disaster recovery of products and services.

    Configure, and maintain development, test, and production platform systems. This includes monitoring and after hours support to maintain appropriate SLA's/SLO's, and report on relevant metrics. The position will be based in Alexandria, VA

    Job Functions:
    Drives preventative maintenance tasks and updates on our client's Windows IT hardware and software systems.
    Collaboratively manages, maintains, and updates Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Servers, Azure services, Linux systems, and disaster recovery hardware.
    Assist in supporting network security optimizations.
    Troubleshoot IT-related problems, both Hardware and Software
    Provides after-hours support for planned maintenance.
    Install, configure, and manage Windows servers hosted in a virtual environment.
    Install, configure, and manage data center infrastructure (servers, storage, networks, switches, Wi-Fi controller, etc.)
    Install, configure, and manage services, including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
    Ensure the integrity of data storage and backup systems.
    Support a Cybersecurity strategy and tools deployments (End-point protection, patch management, etc.).
    Provision and configure the necessary software on web and database servers.

    Support computing resources by ensuring hardware, OS (Operating System), security, and software patches are tested and installed in a timely manner.

    Monitor and correct critical server issues and create recovery processes for failures and performance bottlenecks.
    Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
    Create and maintain infrastructure and network documentation.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    3-5 years of experience in Information Technology Operations or Engineering.
    Experience working in a regulated or secure Data Center environment
    MCSE or equivalent experience

    Experience with implementation and support of Azure Cloud environments such as administering Azure Active Directory, Sharepoint, and Microsoft Office 365 resources.

    Deep understanding of Microsoft Office 365 product administration, as well as Microsoft licensing and administration model which includes O365 Administration, Exchange Configuration, deployment, monitoring & security
    Advanced knowledge of current Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
    Advanced knowledge of x86 Server Architecture and hardware components (HP, Dell)
    Advanced knowledge and experience of virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VM Ware)
    Experience managing hardware vendors for items such as Server Maintenance, Storage Solutions, Tape Library Issues, SharePoint Issues, etc.
    Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (2010/2013).
    Basic knowledge of data networking principles
    Understanding of Active Directory Role Server, and OU architecture.
    Understanding of principles surrounding DNS and DHCP
    Knowledge of PowerShell scripts and automating processes.
    Understanding of Microsoft Exchange Server ( 2010, 2013, 2016) as well as vault and journaling capabilities
    General knowledge of techniques for explaining technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users
    Familiarity with storage technologies and Microsoft Windows clustering with SAN storage.
    Maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.

    Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standards may exist and critical thinking is needed for effective resolutions.

    Experience with replication and backup tools (i.e. Symantec Backup Exec, Double-Take).
    Experience with creating trend analysis reports and monitoring of platform performance for Servers, Storage, Network, and Active Directory.
    Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and/or SQL Server
    Knowledge of ITIL principles.
    Knowledge of Citrix Xenapp environment.
