The Department of Clinical Laboratories, Hematology & Urinalysis at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist III


The successful candidate will:

• Perform clinical laboratory procedures and examinations, and any other tests or procedures conducted by the Hematology and Chemistry Laboratories.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of routine instrumentation and methodology used in Clinical Hematology, Chemistry, and Point of Care Testing; specific familiarization with Core Laboratory Analyzers preferred.
• Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Work with nursing, physicians, other employees, and management as needed, to ensure POCT is run efficiently and effectively.
• Ensure that test systems are properly functioning; maintain, troubleshoot, and take corrective action with equipment as needed.
• Maintain and monitor comprehensive quality control and proficiency testing problems.
• Train personnel using ongoing competency.
• Demonstrate flexibility as the duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Physical or Biological Sciences.
• New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist Licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASCP certification preferred.
• Point of Care Testing experience preferred.
