    Description

    We are seeking a skilled CNC Turning Machinist Level II to join our team. In this role, you will set up and operate CNC Turning, Multi-Axis lathes, and other Turning equipment to produce precision component parts that meet rigorous quality standards.

    This position is based at our manufacturing plant located in East Hartford, CT.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Set up and operate CNC Lathes (2-axis and multi-axis), including equipment from manufacturers such as Eurotech and Hardinge.
    • Interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and other work instructions to execute machining operations accurately.
    • Ensure materials meet specifications and properly stage necessary bar stock or materials.
    • Perform complex setups and make necessary adjustments to machinery, as well as obtain and manage tooling, gauges, and inserts.
    • Provide assistance to other operators and aid in the training of fellow setup/operators.
    • Conduct visual inspections and dimensional verifications of completed parts to confirm compliance with quality standards.
    • Replace worn or damaged tooling as required.
    • Document part counts and maintain accurate records throughout the machining process.
    • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, ensuring all fluid levels are adequate.
    • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including returning excess materials to staging areas.
    • Manage finished work placement and data entry related to operations.
    • Report any shortages or machining difficulties to supervisors promptly.
    • Pack and preserve parts as needed.
    • Engage in additional assembly and machining tasks as necessary.
    • Collaborate with colleagues across all departments.

    Requirements:

    • High School diploma or equivalent; Technical school training is a plus.
    • A minimum of 3 years of set-up experience is required.
    • Prior experience with aerospace products or close tolerance parts is beneficial.
    • Familiarity with Fanuc and/or Okuma Controls is essential.
    • Ability to set and change tools as necessary.
    • Proficiency in using standard gauges and inspection techniques.
    • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), inspection documentation, and problem-solving is advantageous.
    • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
    • Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and relevant paperwork.
    • Proficient in reading CNC programs.
    • At least five years of diverse experience in a machine shop or CNC machining environment is preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
    • Able to stand for prolonged periods, up to 8+ hours.
