- Enrolls and certifies high-risk participants.
- Conducts **comprehensive** nutritional assessments of high-risk participants.
- Evaluates dietary intake, reviews medical records for nutritional risk determination, and provides nutrition interventions for high-risk participants.
- Develops nutrition care plans for improvement for high-risk participants and documents them appropriately.
- Provides individual or group nutrition education on clinical nutrition issues to high-risk participants.
- Collaborates with physicians on nutrition and breastfeeding related matters to ensure proper care and compliance with State WIC policies.
- Determines necessary changes in special supplemental formula feedings for participants.
- Provides follow-up care for high-risk participants.
- Assists in training paraprofessional staff and volunteers on nutrition and health-related issues.
- Oversees disqualification decisions based on nutritional risk status.
- Ensures all nutrition education materials provided are accurate and reliable.
- Works collaboratively with site supervisors to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Acts as a liaison between WHF-WIC and health professionals in the community.
- Conducts supervisory duties and site management when the site supervisor is absent.
- May certify low-risk participants as required.
- Participates in training and continuing education sessions.
- May undertake other assigned duties.
- Required **qualifications** include a Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition or dietetics, completion of an approved internship by the American Dietetics Association, and registration as a dietitian.
- A minimum of one year of work experience in food, nutrition, and/or dietetics is necessary, along with experience in nutrition and breastfeeding counseling.
- Proficiency in therapeutic and normal nutrition related to pregnancy, lactation, and infant/child nutrition is essential.
- Strong communication, teaching, organizational, counseling, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to work independently as a high-risk dietitian in a WIC clinic is a must.

SUMMARY:
Reporting to the WIC Program Director or designated Manager, the position involves providing nutrition assessment, developing high-risk care plans, and offering dietary and nutrition counseling for participants with more complex nutrition needs. The role is 25% administrative and 75% direct client service.
