    Summary (About this Position):
    The Mechanical Engineering Team is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer for the development of Active Safety Radar Sensors. In this role you will be working with Project Team to support and develop the next Gen Radar Systems.
    Studies show just a half a second more warning can mitigate or prevent 60 percent of accidents.

    In this role, youll be working with pedestrian alert, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane keeping assistance technologies (and more) that have the power to prevent accidents and save lives.

    We design, develop, and validate systems to improve safety and comfort in vehicles. This includes the development of innovative computer vision features and machine learning algorithms for interior and exterior cameras.

    Examples of features are vehicle and pedestrian detection, lane detection, traffic sign and traffic light recognition, driver drowsiness sensing, seat occupancy monitoring, child presence detection, and hand gesture recognition.

    Your RoleDesign & develop new mechanical concepts for Next Gen Automotive Radar Platform.

    Participate with a multi-disciplinary development team in support of design, integration and test of automotive radar systemsAble to present design concept to team and management for review.

    Identify and bring up issues to Team and Management to reviewTeam Player Highly motivated, flexible and well organized.

    Design experience with variety of materials and processesYour Required BackgroundBachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering3+ Years of Automotive CAD experience with NX and Team Center3+ Years of Injection Molding DesignSolid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentalsStrong cross-functional communication and collaborationLocal resident of Carmel, IN or willingness to relocate and work on siteVisa sponsorship not available for this roleYour Preferred BackgroundMasters degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.5+ Years of CAD experience using NX and Team Center.

    Experience with high volume manufacturing fabrication processes including machining sheet metal stamping, metal/plastic injection molding and die casting.5+ Years of packaging Thermal Management Design and Simulation using ANSYS and/or FLOTHERMBasic understanding of Automotive Radar TheoryExperience on solving complex issues (5 Why Problem Solving)Green Belt CertificationStrong knowledge of product development best practices (DFM/DFA/DFMEA/DOE)Understand PCB layout and fabWhy join us?You can grow at Aptiv.
