- Establish authority in the facility by greeting the public as they enter and provide a positive customer experience;
- Communicate with outside vendors, instructors, games officials and/or coaches to insure activities are completed in a timely manner;
- Perform customer service activities such as: answering the phone; assisting citizens with registrations; collecting fees for athletics, programs and rentals; assist with computer registrations for athletics, day camp, shelter and facility rentals, etc.;
- Monitor facility activities and outside areas for appropriate behavior;
- Maintain attendance records, accident/incident reports and daily logs;
- Perform simple maintenance and cleaning such as cleaning floors and windows and disposing of trash;
- Set up tables and chairs and prepare areas for special events and activities inside or outside the facility;
- Additional duties may include assisting in departmental special event set-up, execution and breakdown;
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with citizens;
- Ability to operate a computer and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
- Ability to operate a computer and/or simple tools;
- Knowledge of rules and regulations of various recreational activities and /or sports;
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
- Ability to resolve minor discipline problems, conflict resolution and manage emergency situations;
- Ability to adjust the height of basketball backboards through use of a simple tool and/or drill;
- Ability to report any maintenance problems or unsafe conditions;
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships and work independently.
- A valid North Carolina driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent is preferred;
- Applicants under age 16 must provide a valid NCDOL worker's permit;
- Applicant should possess First Aid/CPR/AED certification or complete a certification course offered by the City of Graham; attendance at additional training offered by the City of Graham, including diversity training, is required;

Under general supervision, monitor all activities and enforce policies governing recreation facilities while exemplifying the Vision and Mission of the Graham Recreation and Parks Department, specifically the Facilities Division.

Distinguishing Features of the Class
An employee in this class completes work as related to recreation facility supervision. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the Recreation Center Supervisor. Work is reviewed for ability to follow directions and timely, accurate completion of assigned tasks. Positions in this classification are not exempt from the overtime pay requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Work in this position is light work (exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amounts of force constantly to move objects). Physical activities include balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, crawling, turning, reaching, standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions for the purpose of instructing/leading recreation programs. Position may require operating assigned equipment and vehicles as needed. The employee must have the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data/figures and is exposed to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions and contact with potentially infectious bodily fluids. Shifts include morning, afternoon, evening and/or weekends and holidays.
