Description
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:The work involves providing clerical and administrative support for an assigned department at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. The incumbent performs clerical, recordkeeping and receptionist duties. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher level administrative employee. Supervision is not a function of this position. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Provides administrative and clerical support in the operation of assigned department;
Types routine forms, letters, reports and correspondence;
Maintains various records and data including but not limited to job postings, payroll, requisitions contracts and regulatory documentation;
Acts as liaison between assigned department and other departments of the hospital, vendors, visitors and patients;
Places orders for repairs and maintenance;
Compiles statistics of departmental activities;
Prepares and develops reports;
Distributes communications to department employees;
Orders office supplies.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of clerical and administrative support principles, practices and terminology in a general office setting; good knowledge of recordkeeping procedures; good knowledge of payroll procedures; ability to prepare written reports; ability to maintain records and files; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse constituency; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to utilize a variety of electronic software applications, including Microsoft Office applications; clerical aptitude; sound professional judgment; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
