Description
Overview
Personnel in this position are responsible for providing direct patient care in the Cardiac Cath lab, Peripheral vascular lab, Cath lab Holding Room, and the Electrophysiology lab.
In addition, personnel are expected to function and provide high quality, safe, culturally competent cost effective patient care in all areas of operations by means of assessment, planning, evaluation, and intervention/follow up.

Responsibilities
In the course of providing care for the patient all CCL Specialist (Cardiac Cath Lab Specialist) will perform the following duties: Collect data that is pertinent to the patients status; Anticipate and recognize subtle changes in the patients status; Implements interventions in a manner to maintain patients dignity, privacy, and safety; Responds to the patient, family, or members of the multidisciplinary team in a skillful, intentional manner to demonstrate concern and addresses the particular need of the patient; Identifies variances to expected outcomes and intervenes appropriately to maximize positive patient outcomes; Administers medications used in invasive procedures.
Recognizes the significance of support duties that ultimately improve daily operations, accomplishes departmental goals and enhances overall team performance.
Performs Circulating Duties:
Provides effective care during elective and emergency procedures by assisting patients, physicians, and scrub technicians in a prioritized fashion, assuring that all needs are completely satisfied
Performs Control Room Duties:
Maintains a working knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures involved in the operation of physiologic monitoring, angiographic/fluoroscopic imaging and digital analysis Performs Device Implant Duties Performs Diagnostic Scrub Duties Performs Holding Room Duties/Sheath removal in other departments as needed (to include IABP and Impella removal
Performs Interventional Scrub Duties:
Act as a first assistant in the scrub role of diagnostic, interventional, and acute procedures. Maintains asepsis throughout the course of the procedure. Responds quickly and appropriately in emergencies. Displays effective utilization of supplies and equipment Performs Peripheral Vascular Duties

EDUCATION:
Required:
Graduate of an RN Accredited Education Program required

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred

Cardiac specialty experience LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/
LISTING:
REQUIREDBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Required:
North Carolina Board of Nursing License, must obtain Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS or RCES) certification within 24 months of hire in the cath lab (is required for continued employment in the Cath Lab).
