    ### Job Overview

    This role is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to join our team as a Port Engineer (Fleet/Shipyard Superintendent). We're seeking an innovative thinker with high accountability, ownership, and pride in their work. This position is ideal for a tugboat Chief Engineer looking to transition to a shoreside role, but it's not required.

    The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering position or similar mechanical aptitude on tugboats, along with strong computer and administrative skills. Experience in managing vessel drydockings and hands-on mechanical skills on various equipment are highly desirable. The position is based in Long Beach, CA.

    ### Key Responsibilities

    • Assist the Senior Port Engineer with Vessel Engineers and Engineering Support Staff (Shoreside Mechanics/Welders)

    • Support the implementation of Engineering policies and procedures

    • Oversee purchasing related to normal vessel operations

    • Enforce Helm Connect-related tasks

    • Assist with all Engineering and Marine Transportation department needs

    • Manage Vessel Engineers

    • Coordinate with the Senior Port Engineer in assigning tasks to vessel engineers

    • Serve as a secondary point of contact for Vessel Engineers

    • Ensure timely completion of tasks

    • Verify Parts Requests are completed and delivered to vessels

    ### Additional Responsibilities

    • Assist in managing work plans for the fleet through Helm Connect

    • Attend vessel drydock periods, report progress, and budgets

    • Assist in mobilization and outfitting efforts for vessels going on long-term or specialty jobs

    • Develop and implement Engineering policies, procedures, and training

    • Enforce Engineering policies and procedures for all vessels

    • Participate in training programs

    • Liaise with the purchasing department

    • Review requisitions relating to engineering before Senior Port Engineer approval

    • Determine vendors and track specific parts

    ### Travel Requirements

    Occasional travel may be required for this position to attend vessels working out of town, as well as managing shipyard projects.

    ### Ideal Candidate

    • Demonstrated responsibility and ownership in all situations/tasks

    Physical Aptitudes:

    • Meet physical requirements including walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, navigating uneven and moving surfaces

    • Able to work in confined spaces and carry heavy tools for extended periods

    • Must be able to pull heavy lines/hoses, lift, carry heavy items, climb onto barges, and up and down ladders

    • Must be comfortable entering tanks and other confined spaces

    • Must be able to work in difficult conditions with exposure to all weather conditions

    • Must be comfortable working aboard boats and barges using heavy lines, winches, and mechanical tools for repairs

    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
