    Main Purpose of Job


    Training and continuing education is the foundation of a strong public health workforce, including preparing and equipping public health professionals to face existing and future challenges.


    The Office of the Deputy Secretary for Public Health Services is seeking a Training Coordinator to join the new Public Health Workforce and Infrastructure Office.

    The main purpose of this full-time contractual position is to connect, curate, share, and develop training activities and initiatives across the Public Health Services, as well as to improve the availability and knowledge of available training.

    This position will work closely with other departments across the Maryland Department of Health (MDH), including the Office of Human Resources' (OHR) Training Services Division.


    This position will also serve as a liaison and coordinate with training providers, such as academic institutions, training centers, national technical assistance providers, and other governmental agencies.

    Additionally, this position will support the tracking, monitoring and evaluation of training activities.

    This is a long-term contractual position that will report to the Workforce Development Director. This position is expected to be hybrid.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:
    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

    Experience:
    Three years of administrative staff or professional work experience.

    Notes:

    • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year, up to twoyears of the required experience.
    • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degreefrom a college or universityfor the required experience.
    • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules, or regulations; or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement, on a year-for-year basis, for the requiredexperience.

    DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    The desired candidate should have experience developing, coordinating and delivering training programs and/or sessions. The desired candidate should also have experience evaluating the level of success of training programs.

    Additionally, the desired candidate should have experience and/or familiarity with using e-learning platforms, webinar tools, and other online learning platforms.

    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

    Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.

    Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

    BENEFITS


    Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract, and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.

    As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled.

    The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.

    You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

    Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12-month period.

    This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
