Aviation Rescue Swimmers (AIRRs) are highly skilled and trained professionals responsible for conducting search and rescue operations in a variety of challenging environments. These operations may involve rescuing people from stranded or capsized vessels, assisting hikers and climbers in danger, or delivering aid and supplies during humanitarian missions.

Key Responsibilities

• Serving as part of an aircrew on an SH-60 helicopter to coordinate with pilots to ensure mission success
• Saving pilots from downed aircraft, rescuing civilians during natural disasters, and working alongside other forces like the Coast Guard

AIRRs work closely with their team members to achieve shared goals. They operate radar systems, conduct surveillance in anti-submarine warfare operations, transport troops and cargo to ships, or assist Naval Special Warfare Operations. This diverse range of tasks requires excellent physical fitness skills such as advanced swimming techniques along with flight safety protocols including water survival methods.

Vision Requirements & ASVAB Scores Needed For The Job

Note:This occupation has strict vision requirements: uncorrected vision no worse than 20/100 correctable up until normal depth perception ranges while maintaining color perception which means candidates need good eyesight across multiple domains without corrective eyewear except glasses/spectacles at low-lighting levels . Furthermore Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery scores must meet minimum VE AR MK MC = 210 / VE AR MK AS = 210 standards before passing Class1 Flight Physical assessment also being thirty years old younger.
