    Description

    Job Title: Medical Assistant Position at University of Kentucky


    Required License/Registration/Certification:
    - State Registered Nurse Assistant (SRNA)
    - Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
    - Registered Nurse (RN) nursing student who has completed first fundamental course and a clinical
    - Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) / medic including military medic
    - Graduate from a medical assistant program
    - Graduate from a licensed practical nursing program
    - Clinical Services Technician (CST)


    Basic Life Support (BLS): Required at time of hire through American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification for the Healthcare Provider.


    Physical Requirements: The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull pounds on a daily basis; as well as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. Conditions may involve exposure to communicable diseases and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.


    Shift: Monday – Friday, Day Shift; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (40 hrs/wk)


    Job Summary: The Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for direct patient care and provide clinical support to providers. Duties include but are not limited to obtaining patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigating electronic health record system, scheduling and following up with appointments, assisting with medication fill requests, prior authorizations, scheduling tests, procedures, and consults. The MA will respectfully communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients, and physicians following UK Healthcare's behavioral expectations for service excellence.
