    Essential Job Functions:
    1. Performs daily clinic functions such as interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, weight, and temperature; obtains and/or confirms patient health and medication history to file and update patient records in electronic health record system, and ensures all forms and consents are completed by patients.

    2. Provides patients with instructions and information regarding examination procedures and available services; arranges laboratory services.

    3. Assists NSU physicians/residents with medical treatments, procedures, and exams.

    4.

    May set-up EKG machines, perform routine specimen collection, laboratory tests, injections, or treatments under the direction of the attending physician.

    5. Handles inventory of medical supplies and equips exam rooms with appropriate supplies.

    6. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.

    7.

    Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.


    8. Completes other projects as assigned.

    9. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Marginal Job Functions: Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.

    Knowledge:

    1. Customer and Personal Service - General knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of user satisfaction.

    General knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine treatment to patients, patient evaluation, triage procedures, and patient care charts and patient histories.

    3. Knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures applicable to work performed.
    4. Knowledge of outpatient clinical administrative procedures.
    5. Knowledge of safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
    6. Knowledge of inventory management practices.
    7. General knowledge and understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
    8. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access).

    Physical Requirements and Working Environment: 1. May be exposed to sharp instruments, disposable gloves, and personal protective equipment, among others.

    4. Near Vision - Must be able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

    May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to syringes, latex gloves, pens, pencils, and computer keyboards.


    Job Requirements:
    Required Certifications/Licensures:
    1. Certification in Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
    2. CRP Certification

    Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Major (if required):

    Required Experience:
    1. Minimum one (1) year of experience as a medical assistant in a medical office or have graduated from an approved Medical Assistant Program.

    2. Experience using EMR (electronic medical records), and medical terminology.

    Preferred Qualifications: 1. Minimum six (6) months performing phlebotomy.
    2. Previous experience in specific medical field.
    3. Experience using Nextgen software.
