    Description:

    • Plan and instruct students on District and Illinois State Standards aligned curriculum.
    • Communicate both verbally and in writing with parents and students on progress.
    • Diligent in entering student grade information into appropriate computer databases in a timely manner.
    • Develop lesson plans and goals that meet District expectations.
    • Conduct and interpret formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress, maintain records
      of student work, and develop intervention strategies to ensure student success and growth.
    • Meet regularly with support teachers, paraprofessionals and specialists to discuss individual student's
      modifications or adaptations, ongoing learning issues, interventions or problems.
    • Work collaboratively to ensure individual student's needs are met by enriching or modifying lessons, curriculum, materials, and
      resources as needed.
    • Participate in staff development and school-improvement activities to maintain professional growth.
    • Plan and incorporate best practices or new strategies.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    Appropriate teaching license in the state of Illinois

    1. Bachelor's degree in 9-12 Science Education (Master's preferred)
    2. Successful experience as a secondary-level science teacher. Illinois Teaching Certificate appropriate for the
      assignment.
    3. State of Illinois endorsement in environmental science
    4. Background in preparing students for success on the science portion of the State of Illinois ACT exam (preferred)
    5. Strong instructional, organizational, and interpersonal skills
    6. Strong knowledge of curriculum design and implementation, including appropriate instructional technologies
    7. Demonstrated ability for student management and instructional delivery
    8. Commitment to fostering a lifelong appreciation of science and STEM-related fields

    Compensation:
    Salary placement is based on education and experience, pursuant to the Westmont Teachers Associations (WTA).
