    Day Habilitation Specialist - Day Habilitation Program

    ACLD, a leading not-for-profit agency established in 1957 by a group of families seeking services for children with developmental disabilities, continues to grow. Join a team of over 1200 staff members across 70 program sites in Nassau and Suffolk, dedicated to helping individuals of all ages achieve independence and strive for their aspirations. We are currently looking for compassionate individuals who are eager to make a significant difference in the lives of the extraordinary individuals we support.


    We have exciting opportunities for enthusiastic individuals to work in a day habilitation setting, supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their journey towards self-sufficiency and self-realization. Start at the beginning and receive training for an entry-level career in the healthcare and education sector.

    In this role, you will:

    • Assist program participants in surpassing their personal objectives
    • Offer guidance and emotional assistance
    • Help manage behavioral challenges
    • Support individuals with personal care
    • Ensure accurate and thorough documentation
    • Provide transportation for participants to volunteer and pre-vocational activities using Agency vehicles

    We are looking for individuals with:

    • A valid NYS Driver's license
    • A high school diploma or equivalent
    • Preferably some experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, but training will be provided
    • Completion and maintenance of required AMAP and SCIP trainings within 6 months of hire
    • Capability to assist with lifting and transferring of adults
    • Previous experience as a Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide, or Companion is beneficial

    Locations: Bethpage, Commack, Deer Park, Hauppauge, Levittown, Glen Cove, and Westbury

    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm or 8:00 am - 3:45 pm

    Salary Range:

    Some programs/locations may offer additional compensation in addition to the hourly rate
