- Work closely with the Director and Senior Department Administrator to eliminate racial disparities in child protection, enhance child safety, strengthen families, and utilize data and best practices to support family and staff development.
- Lead Children and Family Services' involvement in child welfare projects and innovations to transform child protection at local, regional, state, and national levels.
- Uphold Children and Family Services' strategic goals by providing the necessary expertise, leadership, and direction for meaningful changes.
- Drive the implementation of program enhancements through effective planning and change management.
- Supervise, mentor, and coach staff involved in administrative support for service model enhancements.
- Manage the budget and allocate resources as part of the leadership team to ensure cost-effective and efficient resource utilization in Children and Family Services.
- A minimum of eight years of supervisory experience or a combination of education and experience in a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least four years of supervisory experience.
- Master's degree in a related field and at least three years of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated political acumen and experience leading large-scale initiatives.
- Expertise in overseeing complex organizations and building collaborative relationships.
- Knowledge of organizational development, program evaluation, and reducing disparities within teams or communities.
- Ability to develop and implement strategies, promote diversity and inclusion, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Children and Family Services in the Human Services Public Health (HSPH) department is looking for a Human Services Area Manager to provide strategic direction and wide-ranging administrative support. This role involves overseeing Hennepin County's child protection programs, various child welfare services, foster care, adoption, and childcare licensing. The ideal candidate will play a key role in Hennepin County's involvement in fast-paced state and national initiatives focused on transforming child protection. Additionally, they will be responsible for developing departmental strategic initiatives, supporting program enhancements, and implementing changes in Children and Family Services programs effectively.As the Human Services Area Manager, you will be the voice of Hennepin County Children and Family Services, both within and outside the county structure. This requires a deep understanding of policy and program management in this field, the ability to build essential relationships across systems and communities, and the expertise to contribute significantly to broader child welfare initiatives. Moreover, this role involves identifying resource opportunities that align with Children and Family Services' strategic goals and its interaction with the HSPH department. The chosen candidate will collaborate internally with managers to ensure successful implementation of program enhancement strategies.

Location and Hours:
This position is hybrid, requiring on-site work at 525 Portland Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55415, as well as remote work as needed. The standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with occasional weekend, evening, or holiday shifts. While the role is hybrid, candidates must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
New employees hired for remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, and December 31, 2024, will receive $500 towards establishing reliable internet connectivity after completing six months in the role.
