    Position OverviewThe Principal User Experience Researcher at Autodesk is a customer advocate, possesses a passion for human-centered design, and has an experience conducting impactful research with cross-functional teams. Our Experience Researchers use a variety of research methods and work in lockstep with their teams to envision, validate, and ship high-quality experiences our customers will love.

    You will join the User Research team for Autodesk's Digital Experience group, which covers Autodesk's digital properties such as the eCommerce store.

    You will conduct generative and evaluative research to understand our customer workflows and mental models.

    You will help shape Autodesk's customer experience strategy and guide working teams on how to scale a seamless, effortless, and cohesive digital experience.

    You will join a top-notch research team that is at the helm of guiding Autodesk through its digital transformation. You will enable teams to understand customers and their businesses. You will require thoughtful multi-methods research skills and techniques, along with the ability to collaborate with global teams.
    The Digital Experience Research team provides rich, actionable customer insights to improve across our customers' digital experience with Autodesk.

    We are a team of multi-method researchers who love to experiment with new techniques, help each other, and make things better.

    We partner with experience designers, product management, engineering, and business leaders to turn insights into implementation.
    This researcher will report directly to the Director of Research. You will be a team lead with some managerial responsibilities.
    You can work remotely or as a hybrid between remote and in one of our office locations.

    Preference for candidates in either the Bay Area, CA or Boston, MA.
    Responsibilities+ Conduct customer research throughout the design and development lifecycle, from early strategic direction through post-release validation+ Employ multiple research methods, including generative design research and contextual inquiry, participatory design workshops, interviews, formative and summative usability studies, and quantitative methods, such as surveys and data analytics+ Present research findings and insights in a compelling way+ Develop relationships across the company understanding existing research and insights to inform your research projects and collaborate on end-to-end research that looks across the customer journey+ Lead empathy and design-thinking workshops with teams to ensure that findings are translated into actionable product goals and direction+ Share customer insights with the broader organization in creative ways to increase customer empathy+ Coach others in the research community at Autodesk, promoting research as a strategic driver for our products and services+ Partnering with other researchers on our team and with the broader research community at Autodesk to share and promote research findings, collaborate on projects to understand our customers' end-to-end journey, and to promote research as a strategic driver for our products and services
    Minimum Qualifications+ 8+ years of professional research experience+ Experience qualitative and quantitative results improving product strategy and development+ Up-to-date toolkit of research methods, and experienced to know when to be lean and scrappy and when to be rigorous+ Collaborate with a wide set of stakeholders including designers, product managers, and software developers+ Skills to distill complex ideas to their essence+ Demonstrated inquisitive mind and empathy for customers+ Value for collaboration and bringing your team along with you+ Think holistically and find patterns+ High quality communications+ Eagerness to work in the complex and derive simple valuable solutions
    Preferred Qualifications+ Bachelor's degree or above in cognitive or experimental psychology, human computer interaction, human factors, business, or related field+ Experience with eCommerce or platform experiences+ Experience researching multichannel experiences+ Familiarity with Lean UX and Lean Research methodologies+ Experience with Agile software development+ Familiarity with Autodesk products+ Experience with stakeholder management and promoting alignment through CX+ Experience influencing decision makers

    Salary is one part of Autodesks competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $131,900 and $213,400. Offers are based on the candidates experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
