    The R&D Process Engineer has the responsibility for implementing all research and development activities related to membrane manufacturing and associated processes.

    This person will be the R&D link to plant processing associated with manufacturing and assembling products and assisting in design and start-up of process equipment.

    This encompasses creating technical design specifications for equipment, developing processing specifications, providing process assistance to the plants and development of ACE justifications.

    The R&D Process Engineer will use soundprocess engineering principles and techniques across multiple material disciplines including thermoplastics and thermosets.

    The Process Engineer will collaborate with chemists, other engineers, and technically trained personnel, and operates under the general guidance of the Director, Membrane Process R&D.


    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Time %ImportanceLead the development and maintenance of manufacturing and process specifications for supported products


    Products include:

    thermoplastic, thermoset membrane, and associated accessories.25%5Assist with equipment/line installs and start-ups associated with capital equipment projects25%5Work with all applicable CCM functions (Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, etc.) to define project priorities, project scope and future development directions associated with manufacturing processes15%5Support the entire R&D group, by answering questions, assisting with testing, qualifying new materials, evaluating equipment or systems, or providing any other applicable assistance as needed.15%5Lead task groups to investigate new methods and equipment for the manufacturing of Carlisle membrane products and recycling scrap membrane.

    Time %ImportanceInvestigate ways to reduce the manufacturing cost of Carlisle products.15%4Conduct periodic analysis of key competitors to maintain an awareness level of their process capabilities.

    Attend process / equipment trade shows to stay current with the latest technologies.

    Requirements Education and Experience:

    Education:
    BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Plastics & Polymer Engineering, Physical Science or Mechanical Engineering minimumExperience: 0- 5 years of experience in the thermoplastics or rubber extrusion industry Equivalency -8 years of experience in the roofing industry with the last 5 years of experience with single-ply system production

    Working Conditions:


    The basic work environment is an office with an average of 1 week of travel per month (although more travel may be required on occasion).

    The atmosphere is fast paced and occasionally becomes stressful. The environment demands that multiple projects be worked on at the same time.

    The hours of Monday Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM are essential to be accessible to the various departments in the company as well as interface with suppliers, code officials, and customers.

    Forty hours per week is a minimum.
    The workload may require longer work hours than 8 to 5. Also, the workload may require Saturday and Sunday hours for either work or travel, or both.#J-18808-Ljbffr
