- Performs, reviews, and scores diagnostic electroencephalogram (EEG) testing in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Communicates urgent findings to the neurologist present or oncall.
- Interviews patients to collect relevant medical history and documents in electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Educates and instructs patients and families regarding test preparation, pretest interviews, and followup appointments.
- Prepares and stages equipment and clinical area in hospital rooms, emergency department, operating rooms, or clinics.
- Calibrates and maintains equipment. Maintain and monitor consumable supply levels.
- Works with supervisor to develop daily schedule and oncall schedule for Neurodiagnostics Dept.
- Monitors quality of exams performed and works with other techs if improvement is needed.
- Serves as mentor for other EEG Techs.
- Ensures Neurologists are engaged with the program and makes recommended changes based upon their feedback.
- Develop protocols and policies to support the Neurodiagnostics department
- Associate degree from a relevant program in neurophysiology or Polysomnography with EEG incorporated or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Eligible for registration as a Registered EEG Tech (R. EEG T.) by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET)
