JOB SUMMARY:

Oversees right-of-way clearing for new and existing distribution and transmission line construction. Maintains time and equipment records for each crew to verify statements from contracting services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinate tree trimming with the engineering, construction, and broadband departments prior to new line construction.
• Obtain power outage locations and schedule crews to clear trees.
• Direct contracted tree trimming crews and assign daily work orders. (Position has no authority in tangible employment actions including hiring, firing, promoting, reassigning significantly different tasks, or causing changes to benefits but may be involved in directing day-to-day operations of employees).
• Correspond with customers when right-of-way or workmanship problems arise.
• Respond to phone calls for tree trimming requests and power outage calls after hours as needed in a timely manner. Document calls and conversations via contact tracking.
• Maintain daily progress report from tree trimming crews.
• Verify contract employees' hours and equipment use and give to Service Department Administrator for verification of billing.
• Represent BrightRidge in court when there is a dispute regarding tree trimming.
• Ensure that right-of-way trimming is completed as directed.
• Maintain assigned vehicle.
• Obtain R.O.W. prior to tree trimming of our lines.
• Assist in spraying around guys and poles.
• Help prepare and keep up-to-date a mapping system of trouble and completed areas for future planning.
• Correspond with tree trimming companies concerning equipment status, safety items and employees.
• Discuss complaints and future tree trimming plans with consumers.
• Ability to maintain reliable, predictable and reasonable attendance

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
• Maintain valid driver's license from state of residence.
• Must be available for after hours work which would include working fair share of all necessary overtime.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must know BrightRidge safety rules and regulations.
• Must know public contact principles.
• Must know procedures for tree trimming.
• Must know BrightRidge system.
• Must know use of tree trimming and right-of-way equipment.
• Must be able to schedule work and direct workers.
• Must deal effectively and positively deal with customers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must occasionally lift up to 67 pounds and must be able to ambulate across uneven terrain. Requires constant sitting (while driving), vision, depth perception and arm/hand, leg/foot and simple grasp for machine control operation. Requires frequent talking and hearing and occasional lifting, lowering, carrying push/pull, climbing stairs, head/neck movement, standing, walking, reaching, handling, crouch/squatting, turning, balancing, cutting and trimming.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Approximately 90% of this position must be performed outside in varying weather conditions with large amount of time spent working out of the vehicle. The remaining 10% is spent in a normal temperature controlled office environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school or equivalent required.
• Three years' experience in tree trimming techniques and supervision pr
• Obtain and maintain Arborist Certification.
• Must have or obtain a category six spraying license.
