    GEICO's DevOps Core Automation Team is looking for a highly motivated Cloud Principal Engineer/Architect to assist with public cloud automation to support initiatives around automated IT Service Provisioning, Deployments and Operations. As a Principal Engineer, you will bring a strong perspective that inspires change and who motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to complex problems, driving the engineering and operations for DevOps software development, automation, provisioning, performance management and tools across Geico. This role is accountable for establishing management level relationships and partnering with all business disciplines, other MI teams, outsourcing vendors, and external vendors to define and implement the DevOps Organization roadmap, building and enforcing the standards defined in it.
    The successful candidate will provide Architecture leadership as a Cloud Network Principal Engineer for all phases of the infrastructure lifecycle from ideation through execution, and ongoing management and support, with specific attention to identifying opportunities for proactive and reactive (self-healing) automation solutions across our organizations. (S)/He will develop and execute new initiatives to simplify, standardize, optimize, and automate designs, tooling, and operations to reduce implementation cycle times, eliminate service downtime, optimize performance, and ensure that all security and compliance requirements are fully governed.
    Well-qualified candidates must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and demonstrate ability to coordinate efforts across functional areas.
    Responsibilities include:

    • 10+ years of professional experience with software design and architecture using cloud platform

    • Strong experience in developing simple solutions to complex problems, driving our engineering and automation for Azure networking resources such as VNet/Subnet/NSG/Azure Firewall, VWAN, DNS, Infoblox

    • Play a key role in the adoption of Azure / Cloud offerings in the enterprise, specifically providing guidance/recommendations for network specific requirements

    • Work closely with various stakeholders like Enterprise Network Team, Enterprise Architecture team to propose solutions and deliver solutions for the Platform engineering team

    • Working knowledge of networking concepts (DNS/DHCP/Firewalls/Sub-netting, etc.)

    • Knowledge of networking components and concepts including subnets, DMZs, routers, switches, and firewalls

    • Promote the use of Azure/Cloud standardization, shared infrastructure and shared services to reduce costs and improve information flows.

    • 5+ years of IT infrastructure technical leadership experience (matrix and/or functional) with at least 3 years of experience in utilizing the AGILE framework with SCRUM methodology.

    • Expert in managing code and dependencies, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps/ GitHub along with other Configuration management best practices.

    • Overall IT knowledge with more in-depth knowledge of Networking, Security, and cloud technology (Azure specifically) such as topologies, protocols, components, and principles

    • Ensure alignment with our Cloud DevOps model based on 100% automation and adoption of repeatable patterns that can be leveraged across the organization.

    • Proven track record of driving transformation in cloud technologies, tools, and processes through a data-driven continuous improvement methodology

    • Proven experience performing root cause analysis of security events and incidents

    • Promote the use of Azure/Cloud standardization, shared infrastructure, and shared services to reduce costs and improve information flows.

    • Ability to create Reference Architectures and standards for the Microsoft Technology stack in line with IT DevOps and Application need

    • Experience in researching emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products and synthesizing into clear technology roadmaps and strategies

    • Strong influencing skills and an ability to overcome barriers while driving change

    • Full stack design and development experience within the Azure ecosystem including building platforms and frameworks to create consistent, verifiable, and automatic management of applications and infrastructure between non-production and production environments.

    • Demonstrable experience in developing applications in afore mentioned languages for Enterprise level applications with a strong understanding of SOLID principles and development best patterns and practices.
    Desired Qualifications:

    • A self-starter demonstrating an ability to transition in technology, lead and guide architecture, and thoughtfully solve problems

    • Support internal and external audits related to SOX, ISO, PCI DSS, and state compliance

    • Excellent ability to multi-task by balancing multiple projects at the same time.
    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Professional experience of software programming languages that implement automation. (e.g. Python, Powershell, C# ,Net)

    • Expert in designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to manage Azure resources using Terraform

    Annual Salary

    $90, $204,500.00

    The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
