    Are you interested in getting in on the ground floor of an exciting new project that will design and analyze the next generation radiological shipping container for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program? The Naval Nuclear Laboratory develops advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology for the safety and reliability of our Navy's submarine and aircraft fleet.

    Our company is looking for a Mechanical Engineer member to join our Shipping Container Recapitalization team as a structural analyst.

    The Mechanical Engineer member will perform structural analysis of radiological cargo and/or shipping containers which contain radiological cargo.

    Structural analysis will include both hand calculations as well as finite element analysis to model fuel and container structural performance during a hypothetical accident event, including elastic-plastic analysis.

    The engineer should have experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software including experience performing both static and dynamic, non-linear FEA.

    Additionally, the engineer will support engineering and business activities of the Shipping Containers organization, including but not limited to performing engineering evaluations and generating written technical reports.

    Requirements 10+ years of experience Active DOE L Clearance. Minimum four year BS degree in engineering Microsoft Office Advanced Structural Analysis Static and Dynamic Finite Element Analysis Highly Preferred Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit or other similar FEA software Elastic-Plastic Structural Analysis Technical writing Familiarity with radiological material shipping containers and/or Safety Analysis Reports for Packaging (SARPs)

    $110,000 - $150,000In accordance with the Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc (Navarro) salary determination process, Navarro takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. A candidate's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
