    JOB SUMMARY

    Provides general reference and reader's advisory services at the information desk and assists customers with the use of library technology resources. Performs a wide range of circulation functions and clerical support tasks.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Three (3) years of direct customer service experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Education may not be substituted for one (1) year of required customer service experience.

    Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Applicants must be prepared to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

    Provides general reference and reader's advisory services, in-person or via telephone.

    Provides clerical support for librarian collection development activities.

    Performs wide range of circulation functions and assigned general library support tasks.

    Library Branches

    Assists librarians with displays, system projects, library tours, programming, and/or promotion activities.

    Provides assigned clerical support tasks for the periodicals collection.

    Assists customers with the use of library technology resources.

    Jail Library

    Registers prisoner and staff patrons in the database, checks materials in and out, empties book drops, shelves returned materials and performs other circulation functions.

    Delivers library materials to prisoner housing units.

    Trains prisoner workers; delegates duties and supervises their work in the jail library.

    Performs assigned general library support tasks, including answering telephone inquiries from the public and jail/library staff.

    Checks and reports returned materials that contain contraband markings before returning to shelves.
