    Key Responsibilities:
    Leadership

    – Key member of the DCA corporate accounting team. Assist in the development and support of departmental strategic plans and initiatives.
    Management

    – Leadership and oversight of the reporting and technical accounting processes and output
    Accounting

    – Maintain ownership of technical accounting and ensure full compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
    Financial Statements and Reporting

    – Prepare and analyze the monthly consolidated financial reports and provide performance context and explanation for variances.

    Essential Job Duties:

    Financial Reporting:
    Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

    Internal Controls and Process Improvements:
    Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
    Monitor and assess the effectiveness of internal controls, recommending improvements as necessary.
    Identify opportunities for process improvement in financial reporting and accounting functions.
    Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.


    Budgeting and Forecasting:
    Collaborate with other departments to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
    Track actual financial performance against budgeted figures, providing variance analysis and explanations.


    Audit Coordination:
    Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
    Provide necessary documentation and explanations for audit inquiries and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
    Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and standards.


    Tax Planning and Compliance:
    Collaborate with tax professionals to develop tax planning strategies that optimize the organization's tax position.
    Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to proactively address potential impacts on the organization.
    Ensure timely and accurate filing of all required tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other applicable taxes.
    Coordinate with external tax advisors to gather necessary information and documentation for tax compliance.
    Identify and assess opportunities for claiming tax credits and incentives.
    Maintain organized and thorough records of all tax-related documentation


    Financial Analysis:
    Conduct financial analyses to support strategic decision making
    Provide insights into key financial metrics and trends to assist management in making informed business decisions.


    Communication:
    Communicate financial information and insights to key stakeholders, including senior management.
    Prepare and present financial reports in a clear and understandable manner.


    System Implementation:
    Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems.
    Ensure that technology solutions support the organization's financial reporting needs.


    Risk Management:
    Identify and assess financial risks, developing strategies to mitigate those risks.
    Implement risk management policies and procedures.

    Ad-hoc Projects:

    Participate in special projects, such as mergers and acquisitions, where financial expertise is required.


    Accounting:
    Serve as a partner on all accounting functions to the accounting team

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Required:
    BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related/relevant experience

    Required:

    5+ years' experience in full-cycle accounting and financial reporting

    Required:

    3+ years of team management

    Highly

    Preferred:
    QuickBooks experience


    Preferred:
    Experience in

    Agribusiness/Agriculture

    fields, or related fields, like landscaping, garden centers, and/or nurseries
