    We're in the middle of the biggest new product development agenda in our history, and as a Procurement Engineer you could have a pivotal role in the success of this through the understanding, selection, design and delivery of next generation zero emissions technology through value analysis and engineering projects.

    This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious

    Procurement Engineer

    to join our successful, international business.

    You will have commodity ownership for a number of commodities and use your experience and engineering skill to deliver value in new design and achieve cost reduction on existing vehicles.

    The set of commodities you work with will depend on your knowledge and development aspirations, but high voltage batteries and all zero emissions technology is currently high up on our agenda and your knowhow and drive in these areas will be highly valued.

    role, you'll have the opportunity to select what technology we work with, get involved in the engineering and integration and understand what value it can bring to the vehicle, all while making sure that the supply works in the longer term.

    The Procurement Engineer role at Alexander Dennis is unique in its cross-functional nature; and it allows you to develop as an engineer and buyer, while supporting tomorrows greener transportation development.

    Main responsibilities:
    Commodity ownership at Alexander Dennis for a defined group of commodities
    Creating commodity strategies in line with business objectives incorporating the technical as well as commercial agenda

    Identifying, introducing and developing new suppliers through sourcing projects and RFQs where you are either leading the work or supporting .

    Work with our engineering teams in the design of vehicles and integration of systems as well as in cost reduction projects
    Drive our value engineering agenda by balancing technical requirements and costs in sourcing, development, and existing product development
    Put supplier agreements in place to contractually firm up relationships with suppliers

    Supporting/Sub-tasks:
    Developing and utilizing supply market intelligence technical advancement and for commercial gain
    Keep up to date with the market through monitoring of new technology and exploration of new developments.
    Maximizing supplier competition and collaboration opportunities as appropriate
    Identify value improvement opportunities and deliver target cost reductions.
    Supplier commercial negotiations
    Developing risk management strategies for specific commodities to manage technical as well as commercial risk.
    Ensuring effective management of key supplier performance through scorecards

    What you will bring:
    Engineering university degree to a BSc level or higher
    A high degree of technical understanding founded in educational and professional experience (preferably more than 3 years). The candidate would benefit from strong ambition, knowhow, and experience in zero emissions vehicle technology.
    Knowledge and experience in high voltage batteries is beneficial.
    Qualification in Purchasing or Supply (such as CIPS) or a relevant business degree preferred.
    Procurement and commodity management knowledge - including sourcing, commercial negotiation, supplier management and global sourcing.
    Fluent in English and proficient in common IT systems. CAD system knowledge and experience preferred.
    Supplier relationship management skills and excellent negotiation skills.
    Ability to convince others and influence outcomes through stakeholder management.
    Ability to work in cross-functional teams to achieve business goals and objectives.
    Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
    Ability to plan activities, meet assigned schedules and achieve planned targets and objectives.
