    Job Description

    The Manufacturing Process Planner II role at Dow Aero is a dynamic and innovative position that plays a crucial part in the aviation industry.

    This individual will be responsible for developing documentation that outlines the sequence of aerospace manufacturing activities, ensuring efficient component production within specified timeframes and budget constraints.

    Closely collaborating with Engineering, Quality, and Production personnel, this planner will utilize their expertise in manufacturing technologies, special processes, and aviation specifications to drive results.

    • Review product data to determine raw material requirements, hardware needs, and scope of work, including 2D prints, parts lists, 3D models, engineering change orders, and specification documents.
    • Create Manufacturing Process Planning documentation outlining operations such as raw material procurement, milling, bending, welding, painting, and special processing.
    • Incorporate post-machining operations like NDT, heat treatments, plating requirements, and other necessary steps.
    • Plan the sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations to guide production workers.
    • Prepare lists of required materials, tools, and equipment.
    • Identify raw materials with special requirements, such as grain direction, maximum stock thicknesses, and ultrasonic inspection requirements.
    • Highlight special instructions, including masking requirements, part mark locations, film thicknesses, pre-plating dimensions, and more.
    • Integrate engineering changes into planning as they become available.
    • Maintain knowledge of Aviation Industry and government specifications, such as Mil-Specs, NAS, AISI, Boeing, etc.
    • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of manufacturing technologies.
    • Utilize forms and documentation as per the Dow Aero Quality Manual.

    Required Education or Experience

    • High School Diploma
    • 7+ years of experience in Manufacturing and/or Repair Planning
    • 7+ years in manufacturing, engineering, or similar field
    • Fundamental understanding of GD&T Interpretation
    • 2D print interpretation for 7+ years
    • Project management skills
    • MS Office proficiency

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in a related manufacturing or engineering discipline
    • 3+ years of Model-Based Definition (MBD) experience
    • 5+ years of working with Aviation specifications
    • 3+ years of Boeing Specifications (BAC) experience
    • 5+ years of aviation experience

    Primary Work Environment

    Primarily climate-controlled, occasionally not climate-controlled, shop/warehouse setting with occasional loud noises and fumes/particles.

    Physical Demands

    The following represents the essential functions of this job:

    • Hearing
    • Lifting, pushing, and pulling objects up to 50 pounds
    • Reaching with arms and hands
    • Sitting, standing, stretching, talking, using hands/fingers, viewing, and walking

    Expected Days and Hours

    Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional overtime and weekend work dependent on workload.

    Supervisory or Management Responsibility

    No direct supervisory or management responsibilities.

    Travel Requirements

    Rarely, up to 10% of the year.

    Required Personal Equipment/Tooling

    Protective steel-toed footwear when in shop areas. Other PPE will be provided as necessary by Dow Aero.
