    • Maintains, operates, monitors, and modifies existing security systems software.
    • Develops operational metrics related to Information Security systems.
    • Evaluates current processes and procedures for inefficiencies and make improvement recommendations.
    • Performs follow-up procedures related to recommendations.
    • Maintains documentation in a consistent format.
    • Develops Phishing Campaigns.
    • Assists with forensics analysis and fact gathering.
    • Conducts web application and penetration testing.
    • Assists with vulnerability assessments and penetration testing for specific applications, services, networks, and servers as required.
    • Assists with applications/tools including but not limited to Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), BurpSuite, e-mail gateway protection, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) software and tools.
    • Records and tracks Information Technology (IT) security incidents, including but not limited to copyright violations, compromised accounts, e-mail threats, and abuse reports from various sources.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Open Web Application Security (OWASP) - Web Security, JAVA/Python, LAN/WAN networking, Cloud-based technologies, System Administration (Windows/UNIX based platforms), firewall, design, implementation, computer forensic techniques, databases, web, and mail services.
    • Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications.
    • Ability to uphold, enforce, and abide by all Virginia State Police's Information Security policies.
    • Ability to work independently within a team environment.
    • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writings.
    • Must be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
    • Must be available 20-29 hours each week.
    • Preference given to students enrolled in academic programs such as Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Computer Science.
