Job Description Summary:
Duties involve semi-skilled work in cleaning buildings. Employees will be responsible for performing routine custodial work associated with the job in an assigned area.
Work requires the ability to do multi-functional tasks, and to perform moderately heavy lifting, bending, twisting, reaching, pulling and pushing as part of the daily work routine.
Some positions may provide leadership or supervision over staff.Job Description:

Required Qualifications:
Education:

Work Experience:
Previous experience as a custodianKnowledge of the materials, methods, and the practices used in housekeeping operationsKnowledge of the operation, use and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, and other janitorial equipment

Job Duties Outlined:
Office, Meeting Room, and Restroom MaintenanceDust and clean exposed desks, chairs, tables, filing cabinets, bookcases, shelves, offices, lobbies, corridors, conference rooms, bathrooms, and other designated areas, including lab spaces.
Replenish paper supplies in restrooms and other rooms as needed.Manage inventory of cleaning and paper supplies.
Vacuum, shampoo carpets, and mop as assigned.
Prepare room setups for meetings and other school functions.
Check classrooms for proper room setup and make resets if necessary.
CleaningExercise care in the use of cleaning chemicals for all different types of applications.
Cleans and sanitizes walls, fixtures, partitions, glass, mirrors, and refill dispensers daily or as requested.
General MaintenanceInstall and/or hang items as requested.
Perform minor repairs and modifications to office furniture.
Conduct minor repairs on walls and prepare wall surfaces for paint.
Undertake other discretionary, project, or maintenance-related tasks as assigned.

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking.
A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding.
At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
