MEI) is seeking a Automotive Engineer 2 to design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components and sub-systems, product, equipment, and machinery.

You will utilize your expertise to support Methode's growth in the areas of high voltage component design, e.g., busbars, wire harnesses, etc.

This will include working with the Sales and Engineering teams along with our customers to determine the solution to their needs.

Responsibilities:
Develop and analyze product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specificationsMay lead activities concerning product development, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problemsApplies knowledge of engineering principles to design products for relevant industry (such as Automotive, Medical Device, Power Distribution, Sensor)

Design and implement mechanical products using various CAD and CAE toolsEvaluate and implement design changes, specifications, and drawing releasesGuide less experienced engineers and provide support to more experienced engineersConduct product testing and create models and prototypesMay be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical productsEngage in product team environments related to mechanical & electrical product designInteract with sales personnel and travel to customers and vendors as requiredOther related duties as assignedQualifications:
Bachelor degree in engineering from a four year college or university3+ years of related experienceSelf learning, task oriented, good interpersonal and communication skillsKnowledge and proficiency with components in electrical transferCAD or equivalent program knowledge, 3D preferredAbility to travelProven ability to overcome obstacles and get resultsAbility to travel up to 15% domestic and internationalAbility to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Additional Qualifications:
Demonstrated design capability to specify, design and develop busbars or similar high voltage componentsFunctional knowledge in reference material properties and their applications to component design, test, and validationSupport local Sales team on acquisition of new projectsStrong presentation skills with ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and speak to diverse audiencesAbility to read and manipulate existing CAD data onlineFunctional knowledge of FEA analysis with ability to read/understand Moldflow results, Thermal and Mechanical (stress/strain) simulations as well as provide input to model set up and assumptionsDetailed understanding of GD&T methods with demonstrated capability to apply to detailed designsMust demonstrate continuous development and willingness to learn
