    SUMMARY:
    An Account Manager assists the Benefits Consultant (BC) in the day-to-day needs of the business.

    This position bridges the gap from the typical functions of a Consultant Support Specialist or Internal Service Representative and the BC in the analysis of the clients' benefit plans.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Exercises a high degree of independent discretion and autonomy in decision making to manage an assigned book of business, while solidifying and expanding relationships with existing clients.
    • Leads appropriate resources to address the client's risk/capital management needs.
    • Maintains existing business and drives the sale of additional services and coverage levels, while meeting retention goals for assigned group of accounts.
    • Cultivates relationships with the most senior buyer in the client and client's day-to- day representatives and buyers.
    • Supports the Broker/Producer(s) and serves as the primary contact for clients when the Broker/Producer is unavailable.
    • Responsible for the day-to-day servicing of moderately complex client accounts, including routine duties such as addressing general employee benefits insurance coverage, claim, billing, and eligibility issues.
    • Acts as liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve escalated complex service issues that require policy interpretation and experience-based judgment to resolve.
    • Ability to negotiate rates and benefits with underwriters and insurance carriers.
    • Input and update new and existing client information and communications within the Company's agency management systems for tracking and accuracy of data within client files.
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s) in the Company's Employee BenefitsDivision.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Work Experience Requirements:
    a)


    Bachelor's degree plus three (3) or more years work experience in client coordination and/or claims management experience in the group health benefits insurance industry and/or related accounting or human resources fields; or b) High School diploma or equivalent with five (5) or more years client coordination and/or claims management experience in the insurance industry and/or related accounting or human resources fields.

    * Licensing Requirement:
    Presently hold an active Life and Health insurance license in compliance with Louisiana continuing education requirements, or willingness to obtain this license within three (3) months of date of hire.
    • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time or less with reliable transportation.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and MS Office Suite Products.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong critical thinking skills and judgement to quickly determine and prioritize key issues with clients, colleagues and carrier representatives based on a thorough understanding of relevant issues.
