GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Operations Specialist is responsible for processing and onboarding MAI and Outside Fund accounts.
This role also provides tactical perspectives to ensure the Investment Operations team efficiently meets the front, middle, and back-office needs of the firm.
The Operations Specialist partners with other team members, along with the Operations Team Leader, to execute a varied and diverse set of tasks to meet client needs and to enable Investment Operations to operate effectively.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to work in a dynamic environment, where the roles and responsibilities are evolving in response to the implementation of new processes and procedures.
Processes and onboards MAI and Outside Fund accounts using independent discretion and judgment to validate fund processes and to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Oversees and validates fund expense wiring process.Coordinates with account executives to facilitate and complete account openings at custodian bank and on internal systems.
Maintains tracking of new accounts from acceptance through funding, notifying appropriate parties once accounts are fully funded and ready to trade.
Analyzes and processes corporate actions; works with Portfolio Managers to elect correct options, when applicableScrutinizes account reconciliations to verify transactions are stated correctly.
Research, analyze, and solve critical/complex problems related to specific investment operations, workflow issues, transactions, or processes using appropriate channels and resources.
Develop and analyze service requests; ensures compliance and risk mitigation practices are followed to enable Investment Operations to operate with efficiency, quality, and accuracy.
Promotes and helps to implement best practices in the application of policies, processes, procedures, and other elements of governance affecting operational risk throughout the firm.
Other duties as assigned, including participating on projects as needed.EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS
B.A. or B.S. degree, in Finance, Accounting, or related field
1-3 years of experience in securities operations
Knowledge of equity securities, fixed income securities, and various pooled investment vehicles a plus
Investments and trading, securities industry regulations and client suitability a plus
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Outlook, Word, Adobe, PowerPoint
