    Academic Fieldwork Coordinator/Assistant Professor, Muskogee

    Description of Position

    Northeastern State University invites applications for the full-time position of Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for the Occupational Therapy Program in the College of Science and Health Professions. The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) manages the fieldwork portion of the Occupational Therapy Program. Locating possible fieldwork sites, establishing and tracking contractual agreements, matching students and fieldwork sites, and communicating with students and clinical supervisors are part of the duties of this position. The AFWC is responsible for establishing policies and procedures related to the fieldwork portion of the Program and creating and updating the Program's fieldwork manual.

    The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) reports to the OT Program Director. In addition to fieldwork coordination, the AFWC serves as faculty in the Occupational Therapy Program.

    Faculty members in the Occupational Therapy Program are responsible for developing course materials, advising students, teaching courses within the curriculum, and serving on program, department, college and university committees. In addition, they are expected to engage in scholarly activity and service to the program, university, community, and the profession.

    Responsibilities
    • Establish and monitor fieldwork sites.
    • Monitor student performance with clinical supervisors to establish plans of correction as needed.
    • Locate and communicate with potential fieldwork sites.
    • Initiate and maintain clinical site contracts.
    • Update and maintain policies and procedures related to the fieldwork portion of the Program in alignment with ACOTE standards.
    • Meet with students regularly to effectively and efficiently match students with fieldwork sites.
    • Teach and contribute to courses assigned by the Program Director, based on areas of expertise.
    • Maintain knowledge of the profession, healthcare, and content areas of teaching assignments.
    • Participate in curriculum development and review.
    • Advise and meet with potential students.
    • Assist with developing documents for accreditation.
    • Maintain office hours consistent with institutional policies.
    • Participate in Advisory Committee meetings.
    • Attend faculty and other meetings.
    • Participate in and be familiar with learning content delivery methods used within the University and program.
    • Demonstrate scholarly activity aligned with the Program's Scholarship Agenda.
    • Assist in providing supervision of Administrative Assistant and student workers as needed.
    Experience

    A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience with preference for individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas: community programming, psychosocial practice, research, or technology and orthotic fabrication.

    Education Requirements

    Masters degree in Occupational Therapy required (Instructor rank); doctorate preferred (Doctorate degree required for tenure track position and rank of Assistant Professor.)

    Eligibility for OT License in Oklahoma, Certification through the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy

    Non-tenure clinical track available

    Annual salary $100,980.00 with excellent benefits

    Anticipated state date July 1, 2024

    Faculty teaching may include distance based courses, including hybrid and fully online classes.

    The College of Science and Health Professions currently has 76 full time and 18 part-time faculty members in three academic departments: the Department of Natural Science, the Department of Health Professions, and the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The College serves approximately 1,100 undergraduate majors in 14 different degree programs with specific areas of specialization in Cell & Molecular Biology, Integrative Biology (Fish and Wildlife, Organismic, and Biology Education options, Chemistry (Biochemistry, Professional and Environmental Science), Computer Science, Freshwater Sciences, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics (Generalist and Education options), Speech Language Pathology, Nursing (RN → BSN) Medical Laboratory Science (BS and MLT → MLS), and Respiratory Care Therapy. These undergraduate programs are complemented by graduate programs in Mathematics Education, Science Education, Natural Sciences, Nursing Education, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, and Physician Assistant Studies.

    The College has a major focus toward pre-professional health prerequisite preparation for careers in Medicine (Allopathic, Osteopathic, Chiropractic), Optometry, Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences, Physician Assistant, Podiatry, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine.
