    Seattle City Light has opportunities available for Associate-Level Electrical Engineers in Distribution Engineering. These positions are located at both the North and South Service Centers.

    You will need a working knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of electrical engineering, including the methods, materials, equipment and techniques used in electrical engineering.

    You will use your education and experience to perform electrical engineering design, drafting, mapping and computations, as well as reading and interpreting plans, specifications, property descriptions, construction schedules, contracts and other construction documents.

    These positions will report to the Supervisors of the assigned units.

    Here is more about what youll be doing:
    Serves as a project engineeron projects in the installation, operation and maintenance of electrical power and lighting facilities.
    Prepares drawings of plans and details manually or with computer-aided drafting and design applications.
    Monitors progress of construction projects.
    Designs and plans equipment and projects specific to the unit.

    Reviews final plans, specifications, special conditions and agreements and coordinates the work of electrical contractors, affected public agencies, and crews.

    Prepares project estimates and procurement documents, monitors contracts, prepares progress and final reports, and leads projects to completion.
    Recommends for approval contract change orders and payments.
    Participates in presentations, special projects and assignments as directed.

    Installation, maintenance, restoration and/or relocation of electrical power facilities (distribution and overhead and underground primary and secondary electrical services and systems).Oversees the selection, procurement, installation, testing, acceptance, operation, and maintenance of electrical power facilities.

    Prepares preliminary and long-range plans, estimates, work orders and instructions, operating and maintenance instructions.

    Provides instructions to field crews and answers questions concerning design issuesRequired Qualifications:
    In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has: Requires three years of professional electrical engineering experience and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or other combinations of education and/or experience which provides preparation to do professional electrical engineering work

    License, Certification and Other Requirements:
    Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobilityWork Environment/

    Physical Demands:
    Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment.

    Field assignments may entail exposure to all types of weather, traffic, hazardous/toxic substances, high voltage energized equipment and work in or near construction sites.

    May be required to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods of time.
    May be required to work nights, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
    Overnight travel may be required.
    Desired Qualifications
    • You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:Computer skills such as AutoCAD, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and Windows.

    Demonstrated experience delivering engineering projects on time and on scheduleAbility to write clear, understandable and professional letters, memos and reports.

    Ability to give presentations to professional staff, management, and government agencies.
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to adapt to shifting and multiple priorities.
    Ability to work as a team member in a diverse workforce.
    Knowledge of SCL infrastructure, construction specification, and work practices.
    Possess a Fundamentals of Engineering (formerly EIT) certificate.
    Experience managing projects related to electric utility distribution engineering design and construction.
    Knowledge of overhead and underground electrical distribution design and/or other related electrical service & system work.
    Familiarity with underground civil distribution engineering design.
