Position Summary
Assists in the planning and daily operations of the clinical diet office to ensure high quality standards of operations directed by the Department Director and Clinical Dietary Manager.
Responsible for all Diet office functions and ensures all food nutritional compliances are met and correct in the CBORD system.
Work cooperatively within the department and with other departments to ensure that Room Service goals are met.Conducts daily patient rounds to identify food related concerns as well as nutritional care needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Maintains the Diet Office computer program (CBORD) as directed by ARAMARK Support Services and/or Middlesex Health; handles computer hardware and software problems and tailors ARAMARK's nutritional management computer program to meet the needs of Middlesex Health as observed by the Department Director and Clinical Nutrition Manager.
Assists with data collection and evaluation of quality improvement indicators to monitor the quality and appropriateness of patient care on a weekly and monthly basis, as noted by the Department Director and Clinical Nutrition Manager.
Regularly trains and monitors Clinical Aide, and Dietary Aides within the department in the understanding of Hospital diets, patient menu selections, Food & Nutrition appropriate policies & procedures and calculation of nutrient intake records and reports information daily.
Reviews, adjusts and maintains the inpatient menu program, including specials and holiday menus as directed by the Department Director and Clinical Nutrition Manager.
Develops the diet office staff schedule on a regular basis to ensure adequate coverage at all times.Assumes diet office duties when necessary to assure adequate office coverage as observed by the Department Director and Clinical Nutrition Manager.
Assumes diet office duties when necessary to assure adequate office coverage.Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary and provides nutrition care appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patient groups served as observed by the Chief Clinical Dietitian and as documented in competency testing.
As necessary, educates and counsels low to moderate risk patients on special diets to guide them in following nutritional recommendations as noted by the Clinical Dietitians, Chief Clinical Dietitian or evidenced via patient feedback.
Meal rounds, Quality improvement monitoring) to enhance departmental quality and efficiency as noted by the Department Director and Clinical Nutrition Manager.Attends annual Fire, General Safety, Hazardous Materials, Electrical, and Infection Control Safety Education sessions. Attends annual Department-specific training sessions.
Refers patients to the Clinical Dietitian as deemed necessary by information gathered during meal rounds.
Performs assigned duties (e.g., in-services, test trays, performance/quality improvement monitoring) to enhance departmental quality and efficiency.
Assists in the development, review and update of clinical nutrition policies and procedures.
In an accurate and timely manner, prepares and routes all required reports/records such as schedules, logs, performance evaluations, work orders, etc.
Minimum QualificationsCertified Dietetic Technician program w. Associates degree or graduate of an accredited four year college in nutrition or related field
