    Senior Mining Engineer

    About the role:
    DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer for DUAL's Surety Division: Dual Surety as part of Dual North America provides surety bonds to or on behalf of commercial and contract customers. The Dual Surety Team includes legal, accounting, underwriting, and engineering professionals that handle underwriting and claims on commercial and contract related surety bonds. Dual North America, Inc. is seeking a creative and innovative mining engineer to join our growing commercial surety team. The roll of Senior Mining Engineer is an exciting, challenging, and unique opportunity for a senior-level mining engineer.

    Work Environment: Remote

    Travel: 10-30%

    Salary Range: $165, $180,000.00

    Essential Functions:
  • Report to the VP of Engineering or Mining Practice Leader.
  • Perform Engineering due-diligence studies of mines, landfills and environmental sites to assist underwriters with risk evaluations for bonding opportunities.
  • Work closely with a team of underwriters.
  • Work closely with new and existing clients, agents and reinsurers.
  • Work with Senior Claims Counsel as needed for any environmental related issues.
  • Provide engineering reports and PML assessments to underwriting team as needed.

    Job Requirements (education, experience, skills):
  • A minimum of 10 years as a mining engineer working at a management level with experience in operations and environmental regulations.
  • A bachelor's degree in mining engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate information transfer both upward and downwards in direction.
  • Comfortable in presenting in large and small groups.
  • Comfortable interacting with clients and business associates in a social setting.
  • Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
  • Ability to analyze technical data (production, reserves, maps, mining plans, logistics) from private and public sources and develop technical-driven PML (Probable Maximum Loss) recommendations to the team.
  • Act as project coordinator on a selection of projects to ensure key deadlines and performance expectations are achieved, including ultimate responsibility for resourcing management, quality assurance and execution.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and underwriters
  • Regularly assist underwriters and key agents as a mining and environmental expert effectively communicating complex technical issues.
  • Prepare presentations and reports based on engineering review and interpretation to support conclusions and underwriting recommendations.
  • Remain current on industry trends, developments, technology and key regulations.
  • Ability to travel (approximately 10-30%) domestically and internationally.
