Position Summary:

The Pharmacy IV Room Coordinator will oversee the IV Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technicians.

Essential Functions:

Oversees the daily workflow of the department.Drag Edit DeletePrepares the daily work schedule for technicians.Drag Edit DeletePrepares written performance evaluations of pharmacy technicians and submits to the director for approval.Drag Edit DeleteReviews performance evaluations with employees within a prescribed time period.Drag Edit DeleteAddresses and documents areas requiring correction in technicians' behavior or performance and refers potential disciplinary problems to the director.Drag Edit DeleteDetermines priorities and assigns and regulates the routine work production performed by technicians.Drag Edit DeleteServes as a communication liaison with the director, staff pharmacists and technicians.Drag Edit DeleteDevises and administers the technician test for new applicants, study programs and tests for technicians currently employed.Drag Edit DeleteParticipates with the director in the interviewing and selection of applicants for technician positions.Drag Edit DeleteCoordinates the orientation and training of new employees to the technical functions of the assigned areas.Drag Edit DeleteDevelops a training manual for pharmacy technicians and IV technicians, updates as necessary.Drag Edit DeleteCoordinates in-service education activities of technical staff.Drag Edit DeleteDevelops task analysis evaluations. Distributes and reviews expectations with technicians to ensure that they are aware of standards to be achieved.Drag Edit DeleteFormulates draft policies and procedures governing technician duties and submits to the director for approval. In-services approved policies to ensure technician compliance.Drag Edit DeleteAddresses pharmacy topics at nursing and ward clerk orientations.Drag Edit DeleteConducts staff meetings routinely with technicians.Drag Edit DeleteParticipate in problem-solving and troubleshooting activities involving technicians and other intradepartmental and interdepartmental staff.Drag Edit DeleteParticipates in quality assurance activities of the department. Responsible for maintaining and performing the highest achievable level of technical competence and work performance.

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent - RequiredDrag Edit DeleteRequired Skills
Ability to be committed to the observation of aseptic techniques in handling sterile products and equipment, and the maintenance of a stringently clean work area at all times.

Effective leadership, communication and training skills.Drag Edit DeleteRequired Licenses
[West Virginia, United States] Other
WV State licensed Pharmacy Technician.

PTCB certification preferred.Drag Edit DeleteMinimum Work Experience
At least two years of hospital pharmacy experience including involvement with unit-dose, IV admixture preparation, TPN and chemotherapy services.
