Job summary
This position plays a key role in supporting the operation and compliance of the financial aid office with responsibility for understanding and maintaining an extensive knowledge of financial aid programs processes requirements and policies.The Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for processing financial aid files and related documentation with a high level of accuracy and efficiency to meet departmental objectives.
Maintain a working knowledge of federal state and institutional financial aid programs supporting regulations translate regulations into logical processes apply problem solving skills identify request appropriate documentation needed fulfill all financial aid application aid program requirements serve subject matter expert basic principles student eligibility application verification professional judgement prescribed federal state institutional policies track receipt required documents analyze information note inconsistencies reported information process corrections student application data monitor process records work queues including verification professional judgement satisfactory academic progress ensure timely accurate completion partner student success team members facilitate aid processing assist students financial concerns disseminate information attend meetings provide updates regarding changes regulations organizational policies provide specialized support elevated student inquiries College Navigators Admissions Counselors Student Success Representatives ensuring timely accurate responses complex questions concerns facilitate communication agencies using software database systems create modify extract transmit receive maintain records participate training development opportunities continuing education administration deliver quality customer service aspects administration contribute institutional policy processes positively impact efficiency quality provided execute assigned responsibilities duties tasks established college standards safe manner minimal supervision independently identify problems recommend solutions perform other duties directed internal external committee assignments attendance college community events.
