- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with the school's curriculum, state standards, and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The NGSS framework emphasizes a three-dimensional approach to K-12 science education, combining scientific and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas. Teachers are expected to integrate these standards into their curriculum to foster an interdisciplinary approach to science education that encourages inquiry and hands-on learning.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages students to explore scientific concepts and phenomena through inquiry-based learning and hands-on experiments.
- Assess and evaluate students' progress, providing constructive feedback to support their academic and personal growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches into teaching and learning.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in science education, with a special focus on the NGSS.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and ways to support learning at home.
- Contribute to the school community through participation in events, committees, and initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Science Education, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Valid California teaching credential or equivalent certification.
- At least two years of teaching experience, preferably in a middle school setting.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative and inclusive science curriculum and instructional strategies that align with the NGSS.
