7North serves as our 64-bed Orthopedic (Ortho) unit, focusing on delivering high-quality care for orthopedic surgery, injuries, and diseases such as joint replacement, orthopedic oncology, geriatric fractures, and trauma. Our unit also handles spine and general surgery overflow as well as medical patients.

As a Registered Nurse on 7North, your role involves:

Offering and documenting direct and indirect patient care services promptly, ensuring patient safety, comfort, hygiene, and well-being
Providing patient education on disease prevention and recovery methods
Administering medications and therapies essential for treatment and disease prevention
Conducting skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and initiating venous access
Monitoring and assessing patients' conditions, reactions to treatments, and signs of illness to distinguish normal from abnormal characteristics and taking emergency action when necessary
Developing and implementing personalized patient care plans based on assessments, including proper reporting, referrals, and care for diverse patient populations
Evaluating patients' readiness to learn, follow instructions, and give consent while identifying safety concerns based on age and developmental factors
Adjusting care to meet specific population needs, considering cultural, spiritual, age-related, psychosocial, and other requirements

Qualifications Educational Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program; preference for BSN or higher

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

Active California State RN License
Basic Life Support certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Preferably, Specialty Certification (external hires can obtain within one year of employment)

Experience:

At least 3 years of recent acute RN experience in the specialty field (consideration given to 1 year for Registered Nurse II)
Familiarity with relevant Standards of Practice
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and meeting patient and colleague expectations
