Job Summary:
The primary purpose of the position is to perform medical secretarial and clerical duties in accordance with policies and procedures of the Anatomic Pathology Department
Job Duties:
Transcribe from Dragon Speech Recognition or types from handwritten draft all Anatomic Pathology reports, memos, and other correspondence.
Coordinates records maintenance of the unitCollates & completes monthly Anatomic Pathology coverage scheduleReviews and sorts incoming correspondenceScreens incoming calls, answers routine questions and/or refers to appropriate partyMakes out going call as requestedMaintains a record of all newly diagnosed cancer cases to the Tumor Registry Division as determined by pre-established policiesAssists staff and clinicians in the retrieval of patient dataEnters necessary patient information and specimens' requests into the Laboratory information systemResponsible for filing slides for future referencePrepares quality assurance reports, including turn-around times and materials necessary for the Tumor Board as directedEducation/Qualifications:High School Diploma/GEDGraduation from an accredited program in secretarial studies(2) years of full-time secretarial experience required preferably in a histology or cytology laboratoryKnowledge of medical terminology required.
EPIC access is required for demographics and insurance informationMust have basic computer skills, including strong word processing skills to be able to type anatomic pathology reports from handwritten drafts.

Pay Details:
