    Target Openings

    Under general direction, provide Claim business partners with the scientific and engineering aspects of a loss so they have the information available to make decisions.

    They will need to evaluate how a company identifies and manages their inherent risk factors. Additionally they are expected to differentiate the account from others in similar classes of business.

    In this role as a digital forensics specialist the consultant will be working with our larger, more complex and all lines accounts.

    The Forensic Specialist III (Digital Forensics) will be given assignments related to claim and other investigations with the purpose of locating, capturing, preserving and analyzing relevant digital data.

    These data may then be used by business partners to more fully understand a claim or other event.

    The Specialist will be responsible for knowing and using proper forensic techniques and best practices for documenting their work, for supporting possible litigation, and for utilizing available tools and systems for producing work product as requested by clients with utilizing best-in-class software necessary for such services.

    This position includes working on damaged digital devices and media to access data as well as searching and preserving internet and social media content.

    Responsible for mentoring Forensic Specialists I & II and Forensic Technicians with regards to the proper elements of a forensic investigation including proper documentation, rules of evidence, scene and lab safety, as well as the various procedures and policies existing within the Travelers.

    Responsible for working with other operating units within the Travelers to ensure that the Lab provides timely, reliable and effective service as needed.

    To this end the Level Three Forensic Specialist will be required to attend meetings and make commitments of staff and resource as necessary to meet the needs of the laboratory business partners.

    Travel to loss scenes to manage and direct the investigative team and ensure that the various aspects of the investigation including evidence collection and preservation, witness interviews, analysis of the scene are conducted in accordance with good forensic practice.

    Provide technical advice and consultation to attorneys and claims staff associated with the loss.

    Conduct research and testing, prepare reports (verbal and written), and to aid the claims, legal staff and other forensic investigators with the scientific aspects of the case.

    May be required to become familiar with applicable codes and industry standards as well as laboratory testing protocols that may be required during an investigation.

    Provide testimony in legal proceedings including depositions, trial, mediations and arbitration.
    Prepare materials and data as needed to support the overall functions of Risk Control, Claims Services, and Underwriting. Such materials may include newsletters, reports, or presentations as needed to best fit the intended audience and subject matter.

    Maintain their knowledge and skills in their particular area of expertise by attending conferences, reviewing scientific journals and participating in specific industry standards organizations such as NFPA, ACS, ASME, etc.

    Strong mechanical, electrical and chemical/materials aptitude with the desire to continuously expand base of knowledge.
    BA/BS in science or engineering and five years of work experience in the field of study required.

    Five years of experience as a Forensic Specialist II or demonstrated equivalent skills from an organization other than Travelers required.
