    Middleware Engineer Position

    The Middleware Engineer is a critical role at 22nd Century Technologies, Inc. responsible for the design, build, automation, support, management, and optimization of Infrastructure Systems.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging technologies and technical strategy, advising the business on areas for improvement.
    • Design verification procedures to ensure the reliability of newly installed or upgraded systems.
    • Research, guide, and implement best practices for systems under this position's oversight.
    • Manage internal projects for new implementation and software system upgrades.
    • Document and provide training for junior and mid-level team members on new and existing solutions.
    • Mentor junior and mid-level team members to ensure skills transfer for systems under this position's oversight.
    • Provide reporting for systems under this position's responsibility.
    • Serve as the final tier of support escalation for respective middleware systems.
    • Define high-level standards for systems and technologies under this position's oversight.
    • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all matters regarding the respective technologies, systems, or applications hosted or supported by FSB.
    • Capable of architecting and designing the architecture for the respective technologies, systems, or applications hosted or supported by FSB.
    • Support software and systems analysis, troubleshooting, testing, and making recommendations related to systems environment.
    • Participate in incident response and problem management, including root cause analysis of system problems, supporting the local manager with information and advice on corrective actions and/or interim workarounds.
    • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve outages and other problems with web servers, application servers, and database servers.
    • Provide software engineering support in the integration of existing baseline and non-baseline software into the systems environment.

    Minimum Required Experience:

    • At the Middleware Engineer level, required experience for the requisite middleware systems includes:
    • Internet Information Services (IIS): Years' experience administering IIS on a Windows platform.
    • Apollo: Years' experience administering Apache on a Windows or Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform.
    • IBM WebSphere: Years' experience administering IBM WebSphere on a Windows or Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform.
