Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including IV infusions and aseptic compounding.
- Assist with medication intake, verifying prescriptions, and ensuring proper documentation for patient records.
- Support patient service initiatives by answering medication-related questions and providing clear instructions on medication use and administration.
- Maintain inventory levels of pharmaceuticals, monitor expiration dates, and ensure proper storage according to safety standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in acute care settings to facilitate medication administration and optimize patient outcomes.
- Follow strict aseptic techniques during sterile compounding processes to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
- Document all pharmacy activities meticulously, including medication dispensing, inventory management, and patient interactions.
Qualifications
- Prior pharmacy technician experience is required, preferably within LTC pharmacy or hospital environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and critical care practices.
- Experience with IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of hospital or acute care pharmacy workflows and processes.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on compassionate communication and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings while maintaining accuracy and compliance with safety standards.
- Certification as a pharmacy technician (where applicable) or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
