    General Description / Primary Purpose
    The Assistant Victim Advocate is a confidential resource providing on call services twenty-four hours a day and responds to any victimization occurring on the UNF campus. Services provided include emotional support, crisis intervention, referrals, and assistance navigating the criminal, judicial, and university systems.

    Essential Duties

    Job Function
    The Assistant Victim Advocate, under the supervision of the Victim Advocate or higher will provide information and options using a trauma-informed victim centered approach to those identified with concerns resulting from victimization. When on-call, respond to callouts by UPD for assistance.

    The Assistant Victim Advocate- Maintains campus partnerships with other departments offering student services, including, but not limited to, University Police Department, Housing & Residence Life, Recreation & Wellness, Counseling Center, Undergraduate Studies. Working knowledge of federal, state, and local services when selecting the types of referrals and services needed.
    In addition, coordinating the provision of those referrals and services when creating a plan of action for students impacted by crime on or off campus. Maintains and updates Dean of Students resource manual used for referrals. Victim Advocacy service provider sits on university-wide Committees as necessitated to promote the successful implementation of the Victim Advocacy Program under the Dean of Students Office mission within the University community.

    The Assistant Victim Advocate- Manages a low-level case load but is required to have a working knowledge of all cases. Will review their assigned cases, including provided documentation, and meet with students to get a well-rounded understanding of the situation. The Assistant Victim Advocate provides accompaniment to judicial cases, law enforcement interviews and medical services.

    The Assistant Victim Advocate will plan, develop, and present educational programs geared toward educating the campus community on topics of sexual and dating violence. Sexual Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Regulations. Assists in the education and exercise of victims' rights per statutory and constitutional laws.

    Marginal Functions
    The Assistant Victim Advocate assists in supervising the Master of Social Work intern assigned to the Victim Advocacy Program within the Dean of Students Office. The Assistant Victim Advocate may assist with training and development for the intern(s).

    The Victim Advocate Assistant will also help develop statistical and informational reports, including dissemination of materials, as needed.

    The Assistant Victim Advocate assists in the development and maintenance of informational material and the departmental web page. Maintains confidentiality of student records. Other duties as assigned.

    Other duties assigned by the Victim Advocate or Dean of Students.
    Required Qualifications
    This position requires either (a) Master's degree from anin a directly related area of specialization; (b) Bachelor's degree from anin a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 6 years of direct experience.

This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make the holder of this position someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSA's responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in-person training session.
