    Position Summary


    DEFINITION:


    Under supervision of Director, Extended Opportunities Programs and Services (EOPS), the position will plan, organize, coordinate, facilitate, and oversee a wide range of activities in support of EOPS/CARE/CAFYES, or CalWORKs programs, while valuing and promoting the mission and vision of the college.


    CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:


    Under minimal supervision, the incumbent in this position must have a good working knowledge of the college's EOPS programs and assists the supervisor in routine program administration as well as handling related clerical duties.

    The Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) is a state-funded support program designed to provide academic support, financial assistance and encouragement for eligible, financially disadvantaged, and academically underprepared students.

    The goal of the program is to help eligible students meet their educational objectives, whether they seek occupational certificates, associate degrees, or transfer to four-year institutions.

    The incumbent will assist in developing and implementing plans to increase awareness of EOPS and its supplemental programs among students, faculty, staff, and the community.

    Essential Functions and Qualifications
    1.


    Processes student documents, interprets, analyzes, and determines eligibility of award grants, and manages the case load of EOPS, CARE, CAFYES, or CalWORKs participants.

    2.


    Prepares and presents orientation materials with regard to program requirements and college life; assists with admission and registration forms; assists with financial aid forms; and makes referrals to other college service areas.

    3.


    Interprets and implements federal and state guidelines related to EOPS,CARE,CAFYES, or CalWORKs regulations, and in applying program procedures to monitor satisfactory academic progress; advises students on maintaining program eligibility.

    4.

    Assists with budget development and monitoring expenditures.
    5.

    Confirms information on EOPS aid award letters in order to confer CAFYES and CARE grants, and may contact the Department of Social Services to request information to verify CalWORKs eligibility
    6.

    Assists with supervising and training student workers.
    7.


    Develops and implements outreach presentations to district high school teen parent programs and community programs for potential AHC EOPS, CARE, CAFYES & CalWORKs students.

    8.

    Assists in developing and preparing correspondence, flyers, handbooks, reports, word documents, and award notifications.
    9.

    Identifies, develops, and maintains individual files and records of participants.
    10.

    Prepares, generates, and reviews reports for accuracy as requested.
    11.


    Prepares correspondence, flyers, brochures, and notices as necessary; assists in development of outreach on campus, and within the local communities to increase awareness of the EOPS/CARE/CAFYES & CalWORKs programs and services; coordinates and collaborates with other student services programs to broaden outreach possibilities.

    12.

    Develops and conducts workshops for new and potential EOPS/CARE/CAFYES, & CalWORKs students.
    13.


    Participates in inter-agency meetings and workshops as required; attends and participates in EOPS/CARE/CAFYES & CalWORKs annual conferences to stay current with state regulations governing these programs.

    14.

    Assists with budget development and with monitoring expenditures for EOPS, CARE, CAFYES, or CalWORKs programs.
    15.


    Explain written procedures regarding EOPS, CARE, CAFYES, or CalWORKs programs; recruit, orient, train, and monitor peer counselors/tutors and determine eligibility for programs; advise students on program issues and assist in report preparation.

    16.

    Performs related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Compile and maintain accurate and complete records;
    Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
    Prepare and present oral and written reports in a clear and concise manner.
    Education and Experience

    :

    Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, education, or related field, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.

    (Qualifying experience performing duties closely related to this position may be substituted for the required education on the basis of two years experience for one year of education.)
    Working Conditions:

    Duties are primarily performed in an office environment, at a desk or at a computer.
    The incumbent will experience interruptions while performing normal duties during the
    regular workday.

    The incumbent will have contact, in person, via email, or on the telephone, with executive, management, supervisory, academic and classified staff and the general public.

    May travel to differing locations for trainings and workshops for students.
    Physical Demands:

    Typically may sit for extended periods of time.
    Operates a computer.
    Communicates over the telephone, by email, and in person.
    Regularly lifts, carries and/or moves objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

    Additional Information
    The desired start date is June 2024. This is a full-time 12-month classified position.

    Hours for this position are:

    Monday and Tuesday 9:
    30 a.m. - 6:
    00 p.m.
    Wednesday and Thursday 8:
    00 a.m. - 4:
    30 p.m.
    Friday 8:
    00 a.m. - 4:
    00 p.m.
